The Smart Cities Challenge team was one of more than a dozen community service organizations taking part in the fourth annual City of Richmond Diversity Symposium on Friday, November 2.
Presented by the City of Richmond, and a range of committed community partners, the symposium’s agenda emphasized the need for thoughtful strategies, innovative collaboration and partnerships, and the practical “how to” tools needed to foster inclusion in organizations, neighbourhoods and cities.
This was a great opportunity to talk about our Smart Cities Challenge proposal with community members and organizations with a focus on serving Richmond’s diverse community. There was a great deal of interest in the importance placed on bridging language barriers both in day to day operations and in emergency situations. More than a dozen individuals signed up to contribute to future discussions about how to ensure diversity and inclusion considerations are integrated into our final business plan.
